CANYON ON PRO SPORTS AND ELITE PERFORMANCE

"Supporting elite performance and sharing it with our fans is at the heart of Canyon"

Canyon has a long and successful tradition of pro sports partnerships and forging deep connections with athletes across categories and geographies. Canyon’s new partnership with Road and Cyclocross World Champion Mathieu van der Poel may be groundbreaking, yet it is in keeping with the company’s consistent commitment towards performance.

Canyon’s pro sports journey began with company founder Roman Arnold. When his talent for racing was eclipsed by his talent for business, he dedicated his energy into supporting athletes to achieve his sporting dreams. After supporting athletes during his Radsport Arnold venture, Roman stepped things up a notch when he created his first pro sports engagement with professional road teams.

The learnings from this approach quickly resulted in success; Cadel Evans won the 2009 Road World Championship aboard a Canyon Ultimate, at the time the company’s flagship road bike.

Today there are many ambitious teams and athletes riding on a Canyon bike, from the men’s and women’s road teams at Alpecin-Deceuninck and Fenix-Deceuninck, Movistar, and the dedicated women's team CANYON//SRAM Racing, to the MTB-focused Canyon CLLCTV and FMD Racing teams, and to the triathlon stars like Sam Laidlow and Laura Philipp.

It’s fair to say that performance is the DNA that runs through the company from its origins to its present day commitment to building the world’s best bikes.

“We are passionately competitive in everything we do.”

The passion for performance, always striving for the best and the determination to make it happen, is what connects Canyon with their pro sport riders and teams.

We serve our athletes and we work closely with our athletes, who push the limits of our bikes in race conditions, and their feedback impacts future innovations and product development,  Canyon CEO Nicholas de Ros Wallace.

It is the constant competition that propels Canyon to work towards making better bikes for more people. The passion for performance, always striving for the best and the determination in making it happen, is what connects Canyon with its pro sport riders and teams.

Through the intensive collaboration with world-class athletes, Canyon has the processes in place to gather feedback in the early stages of the development process, feedback that is then incorporated into its Canyon Factory Racing (CFR) development process to create the best bikes for its customers and fans as well. "Supporting elite performance and sharing it with our fans is at the heart of Canyon," continues de Ros Wallace.

But beyond bikes for professionals and competitive riders, the democratization of performance means that these technological advancements or elements of them are incorporated many of the models – from Road to Mountain to Urban bikes – throughout Canyon’s range.

Through the intensive collaboration with world-class athletes, we get the opportunity to gather their feedback in the early stages of the development process – feedback that we then incorporate into the development process to create the best bikes for our customers and fans.    Canyon CEO, Nicholas de Ros Wallace

Focus on women’s competitive cycling

With the commitment in women's competitive cycling, Canyon also supports female athletes in breaking down barriers and going beyond performance to create more visibility for women. Arguably the most recognizable team in the Women’s WorldTour, Canyon//SRAM Racing, is making its mark on women’s cycling year after year. The team’s goals of inspiring young talent and expanding the cycling community go hand-in-hand with their motto #TakeTheLead.

Pro sport engagement is closely linked to performance in business: “We also go beyond performance as a manufacturer of high-end bikes made to win and as a game-changer in the industry. This includes developing and producing award-winning bikes as well as delivering best-in-class service and customer experience.”, said Nicholas de Ros Wallace.
