The global gravel racing and adventure scene is going from strength to strength and Canyon has athletes to match. From long-distance specialists like Unbound winner Carolin Schiff to the action-packed challenges of the UCI Gravel Series with World Champion Kasia Niewiadoma, and beyond to multi-day adventure riders like Jenny Tough, a two-time Silk Road Mountain Race winner, the athletes in Canyon’s gravel roster will keep their adventures inspiring in 2024. And with Movistar Team, Alpecin-Deceuninck, and other CANYON//SRAM Racing athletes also dipping their toe into the Gravel waters in 2024 there’s plenty to get excited about.
Nine top riders will be competing under Canyon’s GRVL CLLCTV Gravel race programme, focusing on one-day Gravel events in 2024. With names including Peter Stetina (US, pictured below left), one of the main pioneers of the booming American gravel scene, Unbound 2023 winner Carolin Schiff (DE, below right), perennial cyclocross frontrunner Maghalie Rochette (CA) and former National Champion road racer Petr Vakoc (CZ), together with Andrew Jackson (US), Jasper Ockeloen (NL), Griffin Easter (US), Jeremiah Bishop (US) and Jade Treffeisen (DE), all lining up on the Grail CFR, 2024 is set to be a year to remember for Canyon’s dedicated gravel athletes.
Alpecin-Deceuninck have earnt a reputation as one of the leading multi-discipline teams in cycling, and 2022 Gravel World Champion Gianni Vermeersch (BE) is set to continue that tradition by continuing to enter gravel races this year. From Movistar Team, Iván García Cortina (ES) will be throwing a leg over a Grail CFR from time to time with 2018 Road World Champion Alejandro Valverde (ES) also set to compete in events under Movistar’s dedicated gravel programme. From CANYON//SRAM Racing, Tiffany Cromwell (AU) will be entering her fourth Gravel season – no doubt she’ll be aiming for wins at her own events, FNLD GRVL in Finland and RADL GRVL in Australia, which Canyon continues to partner.
When it comes to multi-day racing, Canyon is working with Vedangi Kalkarni (UK), Andrew Jackson (US), Emily Chappell (UK), Jenny Tough (UK), Liam Yates (UK) and US Ultradistance champion Tyler Pearce (US), aka The Vegan Cyclist, who push their body and minds to the limits in search of adventure.
Stepping away from the world of cycling, Canyon are also working with World Champion wakeboarder Dominik Guehrs (DE), professional surfer Johanne Defay (FR) and Formula 1 race winner Valtteri Bottas (FI) who are all using Canyon gravel bikes to support their primary sporting careers and inspire fans of adjacent sports to give cycling a try.
Few global cycling companies have such a pedigree in today’s pro sports world as Canyon – and the results speak for themselves. Commenting on the announcement, Canyon’s Andreas Walzer, Global Pro Sport Director, said “the power of sport to inspire is phenomenal. Performance is deep within the DNA of the company and is integral to the way we design and test our bikes. With 13 world champions riding for Canyon in 2024, we want to continue to work with the best and most inspiring athletes in the world for two reasons – their quest for excellence inspires us to find every innovation possible in the pursuit of victory, and their performances provide inspiration for fans of cycling all around the world.”
As well as Gravel and Adventure racing, Canyon also sponsors riders in Road, Triathlon, XC, Marathon, DH, Enduro, and Freeride.
