PURE RESILIENCE: ENRIC MAS WINS 2026 VUELTA A ESPAÑA ON CANYON AEROAD CFR

GRANADA, SPAIN — September 13, 2026: Movistar Team’s Enric Mas etched his name into cycling history this afternoon, securing a career-first Grand Tour victory and first men’s La Vuelta a España General Classification win for the Aeroad CFR.

Crossing the finish line of the 81st edition of La Vuelta beneath the shadow of Granada’s iconic Alhambra after 21 stages and more than 3000 km of racing, the 31-year-old Mallorcan crowned his greatest achievement with a career-defining victory on a custom Aeroad CFR race bike, delivered freshly for the start of today's stage 21.

From the opening meters in Monaco through the high-altitude climbs of the Pyrenees and Andalusian summits, Mas conquered the race’s punishing parcours, delivering a tactical masterclass that belied a string of oh-so-nearly moments in recent years.

He may have taken the jersey through good fortune on stage 8 – showing his class by respectfully opting not to wear the jersey on that evening’s podium - but he truly seized the opportunity on stage 9, winning the mountainous stage to Alto de Aitana aboard his Aeroad CFR.

Sixth place on stage 12 further dented his rivals’ chances before a storming individual time trial on stage 18 ensured Mas entered the final stages with a healthy 1m 37 lead. A resolute defence by his Movistar team ensured attacks and losses were minimised over the final stages, bringing Movistar and Canyon to their first Vuelta wins since Annemiek van Vleuten in 2023 and Nairo Quintana in 2016.

While the Vuelta is historically decided on steep gradients, the 2026 course demanded bikes capable of balancing climbing performance with cutting-edge aerodynamic efficiency. For 19 out of the 21 stages, Canyon’s Aeroad CFR gave Mas a huge competitive edge.

World-Class Power Transfer: With class-leading stiffness-to-weight, the Aeroad CFR is an aero bike that can climb, descend and sprint with the best, allowing Mas to excel on the brutal ramps of stage 9’s Puerto de El Miserat or the relentless grind of stage 12’s Alto de Velefique.

Race-winning robustness: With targeted tougher layups, extra durable hardware and premium long-life bearings, from sprints to cobbles to high mountain passes, the Aeroad is ready for the rigours of any race, season after season.

With two individual time trials (ITT) at La Vuelta 2026, Mas also relied on the pure speed of Canyon’s Speedmax CFR TT bike. Built with hundreds of computational fluid dynamics tests, validation runs, and wind tunnel days, Canyon’s engineers created a UCI compliant, Speedmax TT frame that made for maximising speed and minimising effort to meet the very highest standards of riders with their sights set on time trial glory.

Adding to the legacy of Canyon Grand Tour triumphs Mas’ triumph marks the culmination of an extraordinary three-week campaign, cementing his status as Spain's premier Grand Tour contender, and also makes him one of the favourites for the upcoming Montreal Road World Championships at the end of the month.

The victory also adds another General Classification title to Canyon’s heritage of professional racing excellence, now numbering three titles at Vuelta Espana and Vuelta Feminina, four titles at Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes, and three titles at the Giro D’Italia and Giro Donne.
