CANYON BICYCLES SHOWCASES INNOVATIVE AI-BASED CONCEPT BIKE AND HELMET SAFETY SYSTEM AT SAN FRANCISCO TECH WEEK
Canyon PREDICT concept bike and helmet system uses Edge AI, radars and sensors to predict hazards and warn riders of hazards before it's too late.
The future of connected mobility and active rider safety — on display in San Francisco between 7-10 October, 2026.
For release on Monday 5 October 2026: With over 1,100 cyclist fatalities occurring on U.S. roads every year, the future of two-wheeled mobility demands more than lightweight carbon frames and aerodynamic design—it requires predictive intelligence. How can that be possible on a bicycle though?
Making its North American debut this week, Canyon Predict - a revolutionary road cycling concept bike - has that technology integrated into its sleek, lightweight frame, and it will be on display at The Motoring Club in San Francisco, USA, between Wednesday 7 October until Saturday 10 October 2026.
Built as a study into how Edge AI, micro-radars, optical sensors, and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology can help identify potential road hazards and improve rider safety, Canyon Predict introduces a cutting-edge concept designed to radically improve rider safety and pack-riding performance.
Canyon Predict is a breakthrough in intelligent system architecture for road bikes. It's designed to see what you, as a rider, don’t see. Rather than relying on traditional, reactive safety measures, Predict uses a 360-degree sensor array to anticipate road hazards, anticipating other road users, tracking group-ride dynamics, advising on cornering speeds and predicting tricky surface conditions before the rider even notices them. In terms of connected mobility and active rider safety, we see Canyon Predict having the potential to massively revolutionise cycling safety and performance riding in the future.Mazen Jrab, Canyon Bicycles engineer for Connected hardware
Visitors to The Motoring Club will see how the Canyon Predict bike's technology has been neatly packaged into a premium road bike with a data screen integrated cleanly into the handlebar, and with the ability to connect to Canyon’s augmented-reality Stingr Smart helmet, which features a drop-down visor and data visualisation screen.
Along with the concept Canyon Predict bike and Stingr Smart helmet on display in San Francisco, various on-screen scenarios will also be presented to explain how road situations, group-ride dynamics and surface conditions can all present hazards that are avoidable through early intervention.
Canyon team members, including engineers Mazen Jrab and Bjorn Hartmann, will be on hand in San Francisco to explain the features and benefits of such a system, along with how and when these cutting-edge innovations can soon become commonplace on our streets.
Canyon has multiple activations scheduled throughout the week including tech talks, hands-on hardware walkthroughs, group rides and evening networking events. Interested to find out more? Choose which event suits your schedule.
