Embargoed until 11:00 CEST, Wednesday 17 June 2026 – Canyon Bicycles will take centre stage at Eurobike in Frankfurt this June, not only by returning for the first time since the mid-2010s, but also by presenting a bold portfolio of future cycling innovations:

  • a breakthrough intelligent system architecture for road bikes and helmets
  • its ambitious vision for cross-country (XC)
  • and a further iteration of its industry-leading, potentially life-saving V2X (vehicle-to-anything) concept.

Together, these innovations – making their world premiere at Eurobike - reinforce Canyon’s long-term commitment to performance, safety and digital integration. Moreover, Canyon will explain how these cutting-edge innovations can soon become a commercial reality.

Full information will be released before Eurobike (taking place in Frankfurt between June 24-27) and each concept will be on display at Canyon’s Eurobike booth. However, Canyon is already hinting here at what these concepts promise.

Concept 1: Intelligent system architecture

“Road cycling needs a safety revolution. We are transforming safety from being reactive to predictive,” Canyon Mazen Jrab, IoT Hardware Lead.

Based on a communication system between a Canyon road bike and its on-board computer, this system uses the latest technological advances to improve both your riding experience and your safety – fewer distractions, less multitasking, more cycling.

On-board, digital data displays or visual cues will include critical warnings about your bike and its surroundings, such as prediction, distance, terrain and group-ride assistance, including the potential for community intelligence, and to allow your bike to see what you can’t see. These features are designed to provide an overall safety system for both performance road riding in traffic and/or performance road riding in groups.

The intelligent safety system is designed as a stand-alone concept but, in addition to the data display being able to receive data from on-bike or wearable devices, the display can also broadcast to other devices too, such as helmets, leading to a more complete ecosystem.

Concept 2: Connected helmet

Complementing the intelligent safety system, this feature-rich, voice-activated, audio-providing, screen-visualising helmet is designed to do more than protect your head – it provides important visual and audio cues that you can control without needing to take your hands off the bars.

While the helmet has been designed to work with the intelligent safety system, providing vital safety visualizations, it can also work with metrics from other bikes that have compatible on-bike components, or from compatible wearable devices too, such as power meters, heart-rate monitors, derailleurs and more. In short, the helmet can operate as both a stand-alone training device and as part of a broader safety eco-system.

One-to-one appointments are available with the helmet’s designer and/or engineer at Eurobike. Register your interest here.

Concept 3: Roadlite:ON V2X

First introduced by Canyon in 2023, the concept of V2X (or “vehicle-to-anything") allows for bikes and equipped cars, or other compatible infrastructure, to detect each other without direct visual contact, such as before entering intersections.

Now, three years on, Canyon has integrated the technology into ‘ready to produce’ versions of its Roadlite:ON CF bikes – urban e-bikes designed for city use - providing cyclists and drivers with visual or haptic cues about each other’s presence. The system is designed for high-performance urban mobility and demonstrates how premium carbon frames can seamlessly house active safety systems without added bulk or aesthetic compromise.

“Safety is still a big barrier for some people to ride their bike more often. Yet technological advances in recent years are bringing solutions to improve the safety of riders and enable more responsible motor vehicle driving behaviour. We see it as our responsibility to lead the bicycle industry in advancing this technology – ultimately to save lives and reduce road traffic incidents - and we’re excited to take another step in this journey.” Mazen Jrab.

Canyon’s V2X-equipped Roadlite:ON CF bikes will be available for media test rides at Eurobike together with the car manufacturer and leading V2X proponent, Volkswagen. Appointments are welcome – registrations can be made here.

Concept 4: Aero MTB

The fourth of Canyon’s Eurobike innovations features an XC mountain bike which hints towards the next development frontier and, quite possibly, the future of competitive XC racing too.

As the era of 32” wheels starts to gain momentum, riders can more efficiently clear small obstacles and maintain higher speeds through transitions. But why stop there? With speed so clearly on the agenda, the rider’s on-bike position must clearly be an area for development too.

Featuring a new aerodynamic cockpit profile and a revolutionary new handlebar design, Canyon’s concept promises to deliver cross-country bikes that are not only more capable and more comfortable but offer greater speed without the associated safety risks of ‘creative’ positions on the bike.

A must-see booth

Beyond innovative future concepts and race-winning machines Canyon’s Eurobike 2026 showcase represents the company’s commitment to pushing the bike industry to develop new innovations and ideas. That innovation process will be visible for all to see within the Triangle of Innovation concept at the Canyon Eurobike booth.

By combining the interplay between Canyon’s design, engineering and product teams, visitors will be able to witness the push-and-pull dynamics that leads from innovations on paper to world-class bikes and gear.

“At Eurobike 2026, we are presenting a vision where performance, safety, and intelligence are no longer separate categories or restricted to a particular type of riding,” said Canyon’s Chief Technology Officer Chad Manuell. “Our goal is to redefine what riders expect from a modern bicycle – whether that’s in making connected cycling more intuitive, safer, and future-proof, or in pushing the boundaries in terms of racing performance – and help riders focus on the essentials, on the purity of the ride. We look forward to discussing these innovations and hearing the feedback from the cycling community.”

Canyon’s Triangle of Innovation discussion forums will take place at multiple times per day, live at the Eurobike booth. Stay tuned for the exact schedule.
