Embargoed until Thursday 30 April, 11:00 CEST: Today Canyon officially unveils the latest evolution of its World Cup and World Championship-winning Lux World Cup model. Faster, lighter, and more capable than ever before, this new XC race machine has already proven itself in competition and will soon make its mark on World Cup race courses around the world.
The new Lux World Cup CFR was developed in collaboration with some of the fastest professional cross-country racers in the world. In 2025 alone, this collection of racers captured 41 World Cup wins, including several World and National Championship titles.
The insights and feedback from Canyon's pros directly shaped the new Lux World Cup. The result is a bike that’s just as fast on the descents as it has always been on the climbs. Make no mistake, this is still an ultralight race machine—with complete bike weights as low as 9.8 kilograms (21.6 pounds)—but changes to the Lux’s geometry and suspension kinematics give racers much more control on the toughest descents. Cross-country courses have grown tougher and speeds have increased—the Lux World Cup CFR has evolved in kind.
“Downhills are crucial — not just for speed, but for recovery,” explains Canyon's Luca Schwarzbauer, the reigning German National Champion. “A good bike that lets you relax on fast, technical descents make a huge difference because whoever recovers best on the downhill wins the next climb.”
- Our lightest XC fully yet: Utilizing state-of-the-art materials and manufacturing techniques, Canyon was able to increase the Lux World Cup’s durability while actually making the CFR frame lighter (by 55 grams) than its predecessor. CFR frames (size M) now weigh as little as 1,480 grams (3.3 pounds). Complete bike weights are now as low as 9.82 kg or 21.6 pounds (size M).
- Quick and efficient: Each Lux World Cup model is equipped with Canyon’s adjustable anti-squat flip chip. The flip chip lets riders fine tune their pedaling efficiency and suspension feel to best match their gearing choices or the day’s course.
- More suspension travel: The new Lux World Cup CFR receives a boost in suspension travel, with 120mm up front and 110mm out back.
- Smooth, consistent suspension: The new Lux World Cup features a more consistent progression through its travel—with less progression in the first half of travel than was previously the case. The Lux World Cup’s suspension is now more active at sag; giving the bike greater traction on technical climbs and making it smoother across smaller bumps.
- Greater capability. Greater speed: The new Lux World Cup features a far more progressive geometry than its predecessor. We’ve slackened the head angle a full 2.5 degrees (from 68.5 to 66°) and lengthened the wheelbase roughly 40mm—a change that makes the Lux World Cup much easier to pilot at speed on the toughest tracks.
- Ultralight yet durable: The new Lux World Cup CFR isn’t just faster, lighter, and more efficient—it’s also engineered to be exceptionally durable and easy to maintain. The new design features fewer small parts, clearly defined service points, and improved bearing access - all of which reduce downtime in the workshop. Less wrenching, more racing.
The Lux World Cup CFR has already proven itself in some of the toughest racing on earth. Luca Schwarzbauer of Canyon MTB Racing and Sam Gaze of Alpecin-Premier Tech executed three landmark victories at the 2026 Cape Epic on an unreleased prototype of the Canyon Lux World Cup.
Likewise, Canyon XC Racing’s Jenny Rissveds won all eight stages of the 2026 Cape Epic aboard her prototype Lux World Cup CFR, while racing alongside her husband, Simon Andreassen (Orbea Fox Factory Team), in the Mixed Pairs category.
Canyon is launching the new Lux World Cup with five new models – a CF 9 model and four specification variants of the CFR bike - ranging in price from 3.999€ to 7.999€. Each model bears the same world-class frame and features and is hung with components normally reserved for bikes with much higher price tags.
