CANYON ROLLS OUT COLLECT & RIDE SERVICE AT PARTICIPATING BIKE STORES IN GERMANY, AUSTRIA & SWITZERLAND

New delivery method bridges the gap between online convenience and local service, with ordered bikes built and ready to ride at local bike shops

Embargoed until 11:00 CEST, Friday 29 November 2024: Canyon may have the reputation as a premium direct-to-consumer bicycle brand, but that doesn’t mean everything with Canyon happens online.

Now Canyon has a new Collect & Ride service, starting in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, that bridges the gap between online shopping and the local bicycle trade, ensuring expert assembly and convenient care at bike shops partnering with Canyon.

Canyon has been operating a service network through independent bicycle retailers since the late 2000s, providing customers access to expert maintenance and repair services locally. Going forward, this service network will be enhanced for customers who now have the option of selecting their preferred bike shop for taking delivery and completing assembly of their bike purchases.

The Collect & Ride target customer

Canyon’s Collect & Ride is designed for anyone looking for the easiest solution to buying a bicycle online.

Canyon bicycles are traditionally delivered to customers in boxes with sturdy packaging to keep them safe, complete with all the tools needed to assemble the bike – including a torque wrench and, where relevant, a shock pump. Even though the simple instructions make Canyon bike assembly a breeze, for some first-time customers or inexperienced cyclists, that could be an intimidating prospect, and even for experienced cyclists, lack of space or time can make assembling a new bike inconvenient.

Whether you’re new to Canyon, or a long-time Canyon customer, Collect & Ride is an option for everyone.

How to select the Collect & Ride option

Customers choosing Collect & Ride at the checkout on Canyon.com or the Canyon App will be connected with a participating independent bike shop. Canyon calls these retailers its Authorised Service Partners (ASPs).

Those retailers offering the Collect & Ride service will take care of unpacking and assembling bikes sent from Canyon, disposing of all the cardboard recycling materials, and providing the customer with what they want most – their new pride and joy, along with any instruction manuals and tools needed for minor fitting adjustments, ready to pick up and ride.

This not only ensures a hassle-free experience, but also improves the experience for anyone who simply wants their bike ready to ride. In addition, Collect & Ride gives the customer a personal connection to Canyon and their local bike shop for future servicing, creating stronger connections within the cycling community.

While many of our customers come back time and time again because of the simple, easy and cost-effective delivery method we offer, we recognise that it doesn’t work for all customers. That’s why we’re introducing this new service. Collect & Ride is suitable for over 90% of the bike shops we work with and we’re expecting it to provide a significant boost to customers who might not otherwise have been able to purchase a bike from Canyon. This new service is another improvement in the way we support new and existing Canyon customers, hopefully changing the way customers think about purchasing a bike online. It is all about making our online shopping service even easier to use, increasing the satisfaction of our customers. Marcus Graeser, Director of 3rd Party Services at Canyon.

Collect & Ride is now the third delivery option available from Canyon, in addition to the brand’s tried-and-trusted method of sending bikes to customers in sturdy boxes and the New Bike Day experience offered at selected Canyon Factory Service (CFS) locations around the globe.

Currently Canyon’s Collect & Ride service is currently available only for customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland during the checkout process on canyon.com and in the Canyon App. Collect & Ride will be introduced in further Canyon territories into 2024 and 2025.

Customers can find their nearest Collect & Ride service partner in Germany, Austria or Switzerland by visiting Canyon's Collect & Ride page here.
