Whether you prefer to paw over Ordnance Survey maps with highlighters, hit hard on the zoom button on satellite imagery, piece together heat map routes, or simply to wonder what’s over that hill, there will always be those of us who need to scratch that adventure itch. That’s where a do-it-all adventure mountain bike like Canyon’s Neuron CF really comes into its own.
Up or down, steep or flat, the long, slack, low and steep nature of the Neuron frame gives you the versatility to tackle a multitude of terrain. Using the same tried and trusted geometry as the 2023 model and still packing 140 mm of travel in the front and 130 mm in the rear, but with some new high-end upgrades from SRAM and DT Swiss, Canyon's new Neuron carbon fibre (CF) and aluminium (AL) mountain bikes allow you to shoot for higher, longer and wilder adventures than ever before.
The Neuron family features four carbon models – from the top spec Neuron CF LTD to the CF 9, CF 8 and CF 7 - and two aluminium models, offering an updated mix of SRAM AXS Eagle (electronic) or Shimano mechanical drivetrains, giving you plenty of specification choices to suit your budget. Let’s get into the details:
Neuron CF LTD: The Neuron CF LTD now comes with a Fox 34 140mm fork which features the new GripX2 damper for increased big-hit resistance without losing any of its sensitivity on the trail. The CF LTD also now adopts SRAM’s XX Eagle Transmission AXS wireless shifting system, its top 1x12 trail riding spec. New DT Swiss wheels are in, replacing the XMC 1200 with an XMC 1501 set featuring carbon rims, and ratchet freehub for rapid engagement and acceleration. The final spec change comes directly from Canyon with the SP60 Iridium dropper post coming in, offering a longer 200mm (L/XL), 170 mm (S-M) or 150 mm (XS) of travel.
The CF LTD now comes in a high-gloss grey with black reflective colourway, priced € 6,299 / £ 5,849.
Neuron CF 9: The Neuron CF 9 also now comes with that GripX2 damper on its Fox 34 fork and it moves onto SRAM’s XO Eagle Transmission AXS 1x12 wireless shifting system, paired with SRAM’s Code Silver Stealth 4-piston stoppers developed for heavy duty enduro, trail and downhill riding. The CF 9 also has updated hoops, the XCM 1700s combine light-weight carbon all-mountain rims with reliable hubs and quick-engagement ratchet freehub technology.
Neuron CF 8: The biggest change on the CF 8 is a switch from Shimano XT to a SRAM GX AXS Eagle wireless drivetrain and SRAM Code Bronze Stealth brakes. Complementing the drivetrain and brake updates is a RockShox Pike Select+ 140mm fork and RockShox Deluxe Select+ 130 mm shock.
Neuron CF 7: The CF 7 meanwhile maximises affordability with drivetrain and brakes from Shimano’s reliable and robust DEORE series, plus M 1900 alloy wheels from DT Swiss, priced € 3,099 / £ 2,899 / $ 3499.
Both the CF 7 and CF 8 models come in Slate Silver or Pale Lavander. The choice for customers in the US is slightly restricted with only three specification choices – the CF 9, CF 8 and CF 7 – in the Slate Silver colourway.
All CF models come complete with 29” wheels on sizes M-XL or 650B on XS-S, plus Canyon dropper posts, a Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.40 Super Ground Addix Speedgrip tyre up front and a Wicked Will 2.40 out back, finishing with RaceFace bars and stems.
Neuron AL 6 and AL 5: Canyon’s Neuron AL models also get a spec change with a new FOX 34 Rhythm fork for the AL 6 plus DEORE drivetrain and brakes and DT Swiss LN AM alloy wheels, coming in available in Vanilla, Swamp or Lavandar colourways. The Neuron AL 5 now favours Shimano’s CUES 1x11 drivetrain, available in Chestnut, Swamp or Lavander colourways.

With its unique combination of smart, innovative features and bang-for-your-buck specification, the Neuron excels against its competition.
- Cables are continuously and seamlessly routed through the frame, making for a neat look up front without the complication of full internal routing.
- SRAM’s Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) gives a secure and consistent rear derailleur connection for crisp shifting.
- A replaceable protector on the downtube safeguards the carbon from rock strikes. Chain damage is minimised thanks to a compact chain guide to keep the chain in place, a chain shield to make chain jams a thing of the past and a replaceable but neatly integrated chainstay protector sits on the chainstay to silence chain slap.
- Dirt ingress is minimised with cable sealing sleeves in the transition between the main frame and the rear triangle, plus double lip seals and special compound grease keeps water and dirt out of the bearings.
- Mounting points on the downtube provide space for large 750 ml waterbottles (sizes M-XL) and Canyon Load Bags for stashing spares.
The Neuron features Canyon’s geo concept of feeling light and efficient, built to take you to the edge of the map and beyond. The Neuron’s 76° seat tube angle helps you maintain front wheel traction and control. The long and centred riding position together with a slack 66° head angle and a short seat tube for long saddle drops combines to give you a stable and capable descending position.
No matter whether you ride the carbon or the aluminium version, the Neuron feels like home right away. Intuitive handling, confidence-inspiring geometry and new high-quality spec across the range will have you planning big days, trips and adventures.
Canyon’s latest Neuron models are available in most regions on Tuesday 17 September. In the US, customers will only have access to the Neuron AL 6, CF 7, CF 8 with availability from late-September to mid-October.
In all regions the Neuron is available in sizes from XS to XL exclusively from canyon.com or from the Canyon App, where you can also find geometry charts, service information and instructional videos.
