EMBARGOED UNTIL JULY 18, 2023, 11 AM (CEST) — It’s been nine months since Canyon debuted the innovative Keep It Stable technology on their do-it-all Spectral 29 trail bike. And now, Keep It Stable is back and available on another member of the Spectral family: the fun-loving, turn-shredding, roost-kicking Spectral CF 8 CLLCTV K.I.S. with mullet wheel sizing.
The ground-breaking Keep It Stable system, originally invented by Jo Klieber at Syntace, takes a fresh look at bicycle steering dynamics, combining the simple concept of self-centering steering with an ingenious construction that enables pin-point refinement of the centering force’s behaviour across the full steering range.
Using custom-made springs, ultra-strong polymer fibre bands inside the top tube and a precisely shaped cam ring on the steerer tube, this subtle but significant Keep It Stable innovation delivers a trail experience unlike any steering damper or stabiliser seen before.
From actively reducing wheel flop in slow-speed turns and on steep climbs to helping riders hold their line through loose, choppy sections of the trail, the system represents an evolution in bicycle control. Adding a measly 110g of weight, fully integrated inside the frame and protected from over rotation and damage, Keep It Stable is hassle free and maintenance-free. Plus, it allows for adjustment of the centering force to match different riding styles and terrains.
Of course, the theory is only part of the story. Since its launch, we've seen Keep It Stable tested at the highest level of MTB racing, piloted to a top-ten finish by Canyon CLLCTV Factory Team racer Troy Brosnan at Round 1 of the UCI Downhill World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
This latest Keep It Stable-equipped Spectral is built around the same enduro-proof, Category 4 carbon chassis as the rest of the line-up, and its specifications back up its hard-hitting trail capabilities. SRAM's all-new ultra-durable GX Eagle transmission takes care of shifting duties, combining clean, wireless shifting with a robust, precise, full-mount rear derailleur. Soaking up the hits on the trail is a RockShox double act: the burly 160mm Lyrik Select+ fork and the supple Super Deluxe Coil Select+ rear shock, delivering 150mm of travel. Keeping the bike on track and rolling smoothly are a pair of tough DT Swiss EX511 rims, fitted with Maxxis' Assegai and DHRII tires, as well as SRAM's powerful 4-pot Code R brakes.
Canyon USA is also offering Keep It Stable for the first time to customers in the States, with a K.I.S. equipped Spectral mullet now a part of their line-up as well.
Get ready to turn a corner with your bike handling and control when the Spectral Mullet K.I.S. drops exclusively on Canyon.com on Tuesday 18th July 2023, priced 4,999 EUR.
