EMBARGO UNTIL 23 MARCH 2023, 11:00 (CET) — It’s that time of year again: spring is on its way, and cross-country race season is rapidly approaching. And with it, one of the most outrageously fast XC bikes on the planet is back and flaunting a fresh new style. The Canyon Exceed is the embodiment of raw speed. And now it’s more aesthetic and accessible with fresh colours and a new entry-level model.
The ’23 Exceed line-up is based on the existing Exceed frame, a proven performer at the pinnacle of XC racing in the hands of generational talents such as Mathieu van der Poel, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, and Andreas Seewald to name just three. The new bikes combine fresh new artworks and race-proven components with all the signature design innovation that has taken the Exceed to the very top for season after season – incredible stiffness-to-weight, superlight carbon construction, and a perfectly balanced geometry.
The Exceed CF SLX is a bike made for serious competition, taking the pro-level design of the World Championship-winning Exceed CFR and making it available on a privateer racer’s budget. For 2023, Canyon are slimming down and simplifying their Exceed CF SLX offering, with one CF SLX model available. The Exceed CF SLX uses the same race-proven 1015 g (size M) frameset from last year’s bike, now with a dash of extra eye-catching style.
Two sleek colourways are available – classic Canyon-style Race Black, plus a blue-and-black pro team-inspired Team Alpecin-Deceuninck design. The CF SLX is fully fitted to mix it up at the sharp end of the pack with a FOX 32 SC Factory fork with remote lockout, Canyon carbon cockpit, wireless SRAM GX Eagle AXS shifting, and superlight DT Swiss XRC1501 carbon wheelset.
The Exceed CF is all about taking the Exceed’s World Championship-winning, Leadville-smashing, podium-dominating design and making it available to more riders than ever before. Just like the CF SLX, the Exceed CF range features new paintjobs across the board for 2023, with highlights including the CF 6’s gorgeous Quick Silver colourway and the understated class of the Sandstone Fire design available on the CF 7, 5, and 4.
Available at an unbelievable price point of only €1,599, the CF 4 is a new addition to the Exceed CF range for 2023, making the Exceed’s trademark performance available to more riders than ever before.
Kerstin Kaufmann, Brand Manager MTB at Canyon, explains: “With its outrageous speed, lightness, and stiffness, the Exceed is a bike designed for one thing and one thing only – to win races. But don’t be mistaken. This is by no means a bike reserved for elite riders. With the Exceed CF 4, we’re doubling down on our commitment here at Canyon to democratising performance. At €1,599 and featuring the same frame geometry as the World Championship-winning flagship Exceed CFR, we’re convinced that this is, hands down, the best value you’ll find in a carbon XC whip today.”
The Exceed CF 4 is built around a lightweight 1312 g (size M) carbon frame, and features components that racers can rely on to take them to the finish line race after race – RockShox Recon Silver RL 32 fork, one-by SRAM SX shifting, Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes, and grippy Rocket Ron tyres from Schwalbe.
