PURE PERSONAL. PURE CYCLING. NEW CANYON SPEEDMAX ENABLES EVERY TRIATHLETE TO ACHIEVE THEIR FULL AERODYNAMIC POTENTIAL
Pro-level performance, straight out-the-box, the new Speedmax is the fastest, most intuitive and adaptable triathlon bike the sport has ever seen. For professionals. For age-groupers. For all.
Embargoed until 11:00 (CEST), Thursday 9 July 2026: From eight Ironman World Championship titles to the top step of the T100 podium, over the past decade the Canyon Speedmax has firmly established itself as the fastest, most accomplished triathlon bike in the world. Beyond its racing success, the Speedmax is also the most popular bike among the triathlon community, taking the number one spot in bike counts at the sport’s most iconic events, from Challenge Roth to the Ironman World Championships.
A high bar, but how to raise it? That was challenge the Canyon R&D Team set themselves for the next generation of triathlon race bike: Take the best. Make it even better.
At the sharp end of triathlon, Canyon has partnered with the world’s top athletes for years. The likes of Laura Phillip, Sam Laidlow, Kat Matthews and Patrick Lange have achieved success on bespoke setups tailored to their body shapes, their profiles as athletes, and the challenges of each course. Experience gained here provides Canyon engineers a wealth of data to identify patterns from their winning setups.
Now, these custom-made prototype solutions have been brought together in a production-ready system that any athlete can adapt to create their personal fastest setup. It’s called AeroID – the passport to aero perfection.
The fastest frameset is just a baseline. Over 70% of drag comes from the rider. AeroID shifts the focus, unlocking the perfect position and full aero potential of all athletes. From fit to fuelling, AeroID is built upon four core pillars: AeroShield, AeroFuel, AeroFit and AeroBase.
AeroShield is a groundbreaking concept that brings bespoke closed cockpit performance to all racers. This is the most adaptable cockpit in triathlon, fully adjustable in width, length, and grip angle. The closed structure is critical for guiding airflow around the athlete and boosting aero performance, while the increased contact patch and raised sidewalls result in greater comfort as well as more stability and control when locked in the aero tuck.
For the most committed athletes, AeroShield Pro unlocks peak speed. Refined and proven as a prototype with two Ironman World Championship victories, AeroShield Pro is now available to upgrade for every athlete with seven different sizes choose from. Its lightweight monocoque construction is 300 g lighter than the standard AeroShield, with its sleek form saving an additional 3 watts at 45 km/h.
Building on the cockpit, the next component of AeroID turns storage into speed. AeroFuel lets athletes carry as much personal nutrition as possible so they can breeze through aid stations and keep their fuelling strategy on track, where it belongs.
Drink mix, gels or chews, whatever works for the individual, AeroFuel provides modular storage options with volume strategically placed across the bike for optimal aero performance.
A total capacity for over 3500 ml of liquids from the cockpit, integrated inside the frame and behind the rider enables an unrivalled amount of on-bike fuelling potential.
- AeroModule sits between the rider’s arms providing direct access to fuel and hydration. Liquid, gel flask or solid fuel storage, multiple modules are available to attach via a tool-free click mechanism. The system fills the void between the forearms to stabilise airflow around the cockpit providing an aerodynamic drag reduction of up to 7 watts at 45 km/h.
- Splitter Plate Pro is an integrated seatpost system that enables higher and horizontal bottle positions for one or two bottles that sit in the rider’s wake and assist the airflow while reducing turbulence between the legs.
- The internal frame bladder (650 ml to 850 ml capacity depending on frame size) has been refined and optimised for rapid refills and easy access for cleaning.
All AeroFuel solutions across the new Speedmax are fully competition-legal, so there’s no stress for the athlete when checking in pre-race.
When the rider themselves accounts for over 70% of overall drag, their position becomes the most decisive lever in aerodynamic optimisation. AeroFit is where precision meets simplicity with an industry-leading fit range that supports even the most extreme positions.
- AeroShield has the widest arm pad adjustment range where athletes need it, accounting for progressive stretched out positions up to the legal limit.
- Cockpit Post technology enables stepless, millimeter-precise tuning for stack, reach and angle providing total freedom to dial in positions to perfection.
- Rapid simplicity, adjustments can be carried out in minutes and don’t require an engineering degree. Cockpit Posts are available in three different reach and stack options, determined by a new sizing algorithm to help athletes find the one that fits best to their target position. Canyon’s assembly team pre-installs each Speedmax configuration, leaving only final tweaks to the rider after unboxing.
- A premium torque wrench is delivered with each bike for total accuracy and confidence in the setup. All key adjustment screws are TX25 standard for direct engagement and further simplicity when working on the bike.
AeroBase, is the core frameset of the Speedmax. Merging the previous generation’s benchmark aerodynamics with a new, progressive geometry for stability at speed in full race trim, this is the best riding, most confidence-inspiring Speedmax ever.
A key requirement from Canyon pros was a better fit range for smaller athletes. A new sizing split removes the previous size XS version with its 650b wheels. The Speedmax range now exclusively runs on 700c wheels and now starts at size small, with reduced standover height accommodating riders from a 630 mm seat height. Now, all athletes benefit from the same top-line performance, regardless of frame size.
The new Speedmax CFR deploys an advanced blend of carbon fibres laid up by industry-leading experts for a frameset that shaves 250 g over its predecessor and up to half a kilo fully built and ready-to-race. Lighter, faster, yet still built for the real world and real competition, the frame still houses tool pouch storage at the bottom bracket for rapid mid-race repairs.
The new Speedmax CFR and CF SLX represent the pinnacle of Canyon engineering. Over 50 new components have been developed from scratch for the sixth Speedmax generation to enable every athlete to fully unleash their aerodynamic potential and customise a bike that outperforms pro-exclusive bikes of the past. Out of the box.
The new Speedmax covers two elite-level CFR versions (left) available in up to six artworks and three SLX versions (right) in up to five artworks, each with the choice between Shimano Di2 shifting or SRAM AXS shifting. Every bike is equipped with a power meter, DT Swiss ARC wheels, Continental Aero 111 tyres and a Fizik Transiro saddle as standard. Prices range from 6,499 € to 11,000 €.
At the entry level, the Speedmax CF 7 Di2 will continue in the Speedmax lineup offering unbeatable value with carbon wheels, electronic shifting, hydration, storage, and a power meter for just 4,999 €.
All new Speedmax CFR and Speedmax CF SLX models are available in the MyCanyon customisation programme (restrictions may apply in certain markets).
- Speedmax CF SLX 8 models can be upgraded with the Splitter Plate Pro seatpost (equipped as standard on the Speedmax CFR)
The new Speedmax goes live on the Canyon.com website and Canyon App on Thursday 9 July 2026, just after its racing debut at Challenge Roth.
