FASTER SHIPPING, NEW WAREHOUSING AND A CLOSER CONNECTION FOR CANYON AND ASIA-PACIFIC CUSTOMERS

Canyon commits to long-term ambition to grow Asia-Pacific markets starting with increased regional workforce, more customer-friendly service partners and new Tokyo location, underpinned by regional infrastructure and logistics enhancements.

With the development of its main markets in east Asia and the Pacific – namely China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand – there are growth and efficiency opportunities to be found for Canyon in increasing employees and service points, and delivering bikes from locations beyond its main German assembly location.

While the company’s state-of-the-art assembly plant in Koblenz continues to set the standard for how its bikes are assembled, packaged, shipped  and stored, a new Hong Kong location closer to its Asia-Pacific (APAC) customer-base is supporting lowering prices across the region by 6% on average as well as reducing CO₂ emissions1 through less transportation of bikes and frames.

Closer to the customer

A new project for Canyon, which went live in January 2026, brings together several building blocks across the company’s global logistics, digital and commercial operations to lay the groundwork for a scalable APAC setup, helping Canyon operate closer to customers in the region. This allows for more efficient operations, faster deliveries and a set-up that focuses more on regional customer preferences.

These operations underpin Canyon’s commitment to create long-term structures and teams to offer regional customers services beyond simply purchasing a bike. Across all regional territories Canyon has seen a 30% increase2 in employees in the last 12 months, including four members of staff being employed at Canyon’s most recently opened regional office in Shanghai, China.

Prices, portfolios and campaigns adapted to local riders

While bikes for customers in APAC countries will continue to be designed in Koblenz, Germany, this more financially and environmentally-friendly process includes adapting portfolios, pricing and campaigns to better reflect local rider needs.

Tony Herdrich, General Manager EMEA & APAC territories: “We know how passionate riders are for riding in the Asia-Pacific region. We know first-hand where riders are, how they ride their bikes, especially how their riding habits differ from market to market, and we know how and where we want to be present in each market. Now we’re able to put that into action with measures to better support our customers.”

The central pillar of these APAC operations is a new warehouse in Hong Kong with the capacity for 4000 bikes, bucking the current trend in the bicycle industry of brands looking to reduce warehousing investments3.

Alongside the new warehouse will be a financial office in Singapore and an adapted webshop for APAC customers. This includes changes to portfolios per country, changes to pricing – with an average price reduction across the region of 6% - and changes to marketing campaigns to better reflect local rider needs. For example, this includes carrying a stronger focus on smaller sizes and relevant inventory for Asian markets, and adjusting portfolio priorities for Australia and New Zealand customers, where riding habits are closer to European patterns, and lowering shipping costs for customers in markets closer to the regional APAC warehouse.

Herdrich continues: “In the short term we are aiming to lower operating costs in the region by being more efficient with our logistics, in many cases passing these savings onto consumers. We are also shortening delivery times and improving customer experiences in Asia-Pacific markets, and reducing CO₂ emissions with more efficient transport routes and inventory placement. This will create a setup that allows us to serve our customers more efficiently and sustainably over time.

“The long-term ambition is to appeal to core performance riders across the wider APAC region, making this equivalent to the scale of the experience in our core European and US markets where prospective customers have regular access to test our award-winning bikes and have the choice between online or in-person support for shopping, advice, servicing and after-care.”

Collect & Ride service available through Canyon service partners

In addition, the rollout of Canyon’s Collect & Ride programme through nearly 30 of its regional APAC Authorized Service Partners will further enhance how customers experience Canyon’s online shopping process.

Clearly, these some of these changes are operational in nature and vary market by market, with some markets seeing price savings on bikes or shipping, and others seeing an enhanced accessories portfolio or a slimmed down bike portfolio.

Overall though savings and benefits are already being felt by both Canyon and its customers. Some early highlights include:

  • 29% CO₂ reduction in APAC bike deliveries through deliveries from Hong Kong warehouse versus European warehouses.
  • A new Tokyo Test Centre offering consultations, test rides and fitting sessions on road, gravel and triathlon bikes, along with spare parts and repair/maintenance options.
  • Improved delivery performance reducing lead times to two days on average (vs. 10 days previously), boosting customer satisfaction and trust.
  • Greater localized stock of gear and spare parts, with lower shipping costs and easier return options.
  • Customers in Singapore (SGD), Australia (AUD) and China (CNY) seeing the greatest price decreases, specifically on gravel and road bikes.
  • The new warehousing and financial hub bringing the creation of new regional FTE roles.
