CANYON BIKES AND ACCESSORIES WIN FOUR IF DESIGN AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN INTERNATIONAL DESIGN

Canyon is proud to announce that its Sender CFR downhill mountain bike, Citylite:ON urban bike, Deflectr trail helmet and an as-yet-unreleased road bike have been awarded prestigious iF Design Awards.

The iF Design Award is recognized as one of the world's most renowned design honours. Run by the independent iF Design Foundation in Germany, the award has served as a global benchmark for outstanding design excellence and impact for over 70 years. The sought-after design accolades were awarded to the Canyon Sender CFR, Citylite:ON, Deflectr and the unreleased road bike in February 2026 in the product design discipline as part of iF Design Award’s bicycle and bicycle helmet category, recognizing their innovative design and game-changing performance.

With their groundbreaking characteristics, the awarded products stood out among the high-calibre designs of competing entries to impress the international jury of 129 independent design experts.

Each entry from Canyon was submitted with a design idea – why Canyon thought the design was relevant for an iF Design Award - and each received a score against the criteria of idea, form, function, differentiation and sustainability. Here you can find a summary of the concept behind each design:

Sender CFR:

"The Sender CFR was built to give riders absolute control when everything’s on the edge. Downhill racing today is wilder, faster, and far less forgiving — so we designed a bike that works with the terrain, not against it. The idea was simple: take the chaos of a World Cup track and turn it into something a rider can read, trust, and push harder on. It’s a design about confidence, not flash — honest engineering that keeps speed and safety in the same sentence. The result is a bike that feels deliberate and dialled rather than aggressive for the sake of it. It takes everything learned from elite racing and distils it into clean, functional design that rides as well as it looks.”

Citylite:ON:

“The task of the Citylite:ON is to make e-mobility accessible to most users. It tackles some of the biggest barriers to switching from car to bike—weight, complexity and cost. At less than 22kg, the Citylite:ON with the no-sweat Bosch Performance Line motor is a compact, easy-to-carry bike. Reducing complexity means making it intuitive to use with simple shifting, always-on city equipment and a stable ride. The bike design also enhances the visual simplicity and ease-of-use. User-friendliness is built-in: one-click accessory mounts, intuitive controls, and an innovative vario seatpost that allows sharing without fuss. An upright riding position and ergonomic touchpoints offer high riding comfort. Reliability comes from a clean belt and sealed internal-gear hub, protected integrated lights, and proven partner systems—so it’s always ready to ride. All this at a competitive price of 2.999€.”

Deflectr:

“Setting a new standard for helmet safety, the Canyon Deflectr keeps riders protected while balancing safety, comfort, and ventilation. The Deflectr’s RLS panels reduce rotational forces in a crash, while large vents and channels maximize airflow to keep riders cool on fast descents and long climbs alike. It delivers next-gen safety and clever features without compromising comfort, breathability, or bold design. Incorporating RLS tech allows for a significant improvement in crash performance, validated by the current no. 1 spot at the Virginia Tech helmet rankings. The Canyon Deflectr helmet is engineered for riders who like to test themselves and appreciate equipment that enables them being confident close to the limit.”

In total the 2026 iF Design Award saw over 10,000 submissions from 68 countries. Winning these awards recognises Canyon Bicycles industry-leading design reputation and the unmistakable identity of its products, an impressive achievement that underlines the highly competitive nature and significance of winning this award.
