WHAT BELONGS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER: CANYON AND ALEJANDRO VALVERDE COMMIT TO LONG-TERM LEGACY PARTNERSHIP
Embargoed until 11:00 CEST, Thursday 24th April 2025: After taking Canyon's road and gravel bikes to the pinnacle of racing success, Spanish superstar Alejandro Valverde, one of the greatest Classics and stage racers of his generation, today signed a long-term deal with Canyon, his bike brand of choice for the past 11 years. This legacy agreement celebrates more than a decade of success and marks the next chapter in a relationship built on performance, innovation, and passion for the sport.
As a former World Champion and Vuelta a Espana winner, plus 5-time La Fleche Wallonne and 4-time Liege-Bastogne-Liege winner, Valverde knows a thing or two about what it takes to win bike races. In fact he's been taking Canyon's Aeroad and Ultimate race bikes to the top step of the podium since his Movistar team started their partnership with Canyon in 2014, amassing 62 road race wins in that time, out of a career total spanning 133 victories including 32 Grand Tour stages and 35 Classics.
That winning habit is one he's continued since he retired from professional road racing, as he switched to gravel racing, winning four UCI Gravel World Series races in the last three years - most recently the 2025 UCI Gravel World Series race in Castellon, Spain.
Valverde also recently became a coach for the Spanish national road cycling team where he hopes to continue his incredible appetite for victory with a new generation of riders.
What’s more, throughout Alejandro’s incredible career, he was regularly in touch with Canyon’s research & development teams to feedback about developments in Road, and Gravel racing. He will continue in this role, testing new products and prototypes and providing high-level feedback to develop inspiring and innovative bikes for the future.
In this context, Canyon is delighted to be partnering with Valverde for the long-term, to inspire a new generation of global cycling fans.
