Canyon’s Speedmax CFR and Speedmax CF SLX triathlon race bikes now available with HED’s Vanquish Pro or Vanquish wheelset for US customers
EMBARGOED UNTIL 09:00 PST (18:00 CET), THURSDAY 5 DECEMBER 2024: Drawing inspiration from two-time Ironman World Championship silver medallist and multi-time Ironman 70.3 winner Lionel Sanders, Canyon will release a version of his premium Speedmax CFR race bike, alongside a more affordable Speedmax CF SLX model, both featuring wheels from US manufacturer HED.
The Vanquish Pro Series V62 (below, left) is HED’s full carbon, disc brake masterpiece coming with patented aerodynamic wheel profiles, hand made in Minnesota to provide one of the fastest wheelsets on the planet.
Meanwhile the Vanquish V62 line (above, right) is positioned as a more wallet-friendly disc wheel option, offering the same aerodynamic rim profile and performance edge as the Vanquish Pro series, at a price point that still offers performance-level drag reduction and predictability in cross winds.
The Speedmax CFR models are complete with Canyon’s CP0019 Triathlon Flatbar and GP0226 Aerobar extensions, and SP0049 Aero seatpost, along with Shimano latest top of the range, Dura Ace Di2 12-speed groupset. The CF SLX models feature the same finishing kit with Ultegra Di2 drivetrain and brakes.
HED wheels are designed and manufactured at their production facility in Roseville, Minnesota, before being transferred to Canyon’s US production facility in Carlsbad, California for final assembly, where they are then shipped direct to individual customers in the US.
I’ve been racing with HED for 10 years and I’m incredibly happy with their performance. Results come down to many factors but I can certainly credit a significant percentage to the advantages that the Vanquish wheelset brings – I believe I’m riding the best.Lionel Sanders
Sanders, who hails from Ontario, Canada has already proven the quality of HED wheels time and time again, with two 70.3 victories this season at Mount Tremblant, Montreal and Oceanside, California.
He has been racing on the Speedmax since 2018 and he is deeply familiar with the bike that sets the benchmark in triathlon. The Speedmax is meticulously simulated and sculpted, not only for aerodynamic advantages but also for comfort on the bike with integrated feeding and storage areas along with a width and height adjustable aero carbon cockpit.
The Canyon Speedmax Vanquish is available for US customers only, exclusively through the Canyon US website or the Canyon App, priced at $ 11,999 for the Speedmax CFR Di2 Vanquish Pro and $ 8,599 for the Speedmax CF SLX 8 Di2 Vanquish.
