KOBLENZ, 29 APRIL 2021 | EMBARGO UNTIL WEDNESDAY, 5 MAY 2021, 11:00 (CEST) – In the fight against the clock at the highest levels of time trial racing, every last millisecond, every miniscule detail, can make the difference between failure and glory. And it’s all-out aerodynamic efficiency and outstanding stiffness-to-weight values that separate a truly world-class TT bike from one that’s merely outstanding. The all-new Speedmax CFR TT Disc represents the latest generation of one of the fastest, most successful TT bikes on the scene. But this is much more than just an update. It’s a mandate. In full pro-level CFR trim, we created this this UCI-legal version of the Speedmax Disc for one reason, and one reason only: not only to beat the clock. But to absolutely smash it. And it’s coming right on time for the first Grand Tour of 2021.
CFR stands for Canyon Factory Racing – a marque synonymous with world-level bicycle racing. From Movistar to Alpecin-Fenix, Arkea-Samsic and CANYON//SRAM Racing: our athletes are among the best on the globe, with exacting standards to match. So when it came to creating the best TT bike, we asked them for their input. And the Speedmax CFR TT Disc is the result of our endeavours: a purpose-built time trial machine, precision-engineered to extract every last drop of speed from every watt the rider can generate.
In terms of components, the bike is shod with top-drawer parts across the board. Premium carbon Zipp wheels: Super 9 Disc on the rear, 808 Firecrest on the front. SRAM Red AXS eTap groupset, including Vuka Shift extensions and integrated GPS unit mount. And we round out the build with a range of premium details: high-end Ergon arm pads, a Selle Italia Watt saddle, and Ceramic Speed Pulley Wheels. But the true highlight of the Speedmax CFR TT Disc is the frame itself – the incredible result of an intensive development effort by Canyon’s world-class engineers. A low frame weight of only 1030 g* (size M) and a light 500 g* fork create incredible STW values. Furthermore, thanks to advanced aero optimisation, the bike saves 2.7 watts compared to its predecessor, in spite of the switch to disc brakes. The all-new armrests are adjustable using spacers – but now, they are set up closer together out of the box and are designed to meet all the requirements of modern TT fit adjustment. Furthermore, there are two key differences to the triathlon version of the Speedmax. Firstly, the Speedmax TT strips out all the storage and nutrition features so indispensable for our top-level triathletes – including Jan Frodeno, Lionel Sanders, Patrick Lange, Imogen Simmonds and Laura Philipp – on gruelling full-distance races. And secondly, the frame also features new, specially developed, UCI-legal tube forms, making this a truly distinct model. In short, this is a bike developed in the pursuit of one simple goal: to deliver everything it takes to win a time trial. Nothing more. And absolutely nothing less.
The new 2021 Speedmax CFR TT Disc will be available in three sizes (S-L) from 5 May. Price: €9,999**. Exclusively at canyon.com.
