KOBLENZ, 25 JANUARY 2021 – Every year, the Dutch Top Employers Institute – as the world's leading provider of certification recognising outstanding working conditions – examines thousands of companies in over 100 countries for their credentials as top-level employers. Certification is only awarded to companies that place their employees at the centre of their business activities and offer an outstanding working and development environment. The Top Employers Institute examines companies based on their answers to the institute’s HR Best Practice Questionnaire, which covers 6 overarching HR categories encompassing 20 smaller areas including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Wellbeing and Diversity & Inclusion.
Especially after such a challenging 2020, Canyon Bicycles GmbH is proud to have been certified as one of Germany’s top employers for the first time. “We’re really proud to receive this award” enthuses Jörg Röttgen, Director Human Resources at Canyon. But Röttgen is also looking onwards and upwards: “For us, being recognised as a Top Employer does not mean that we are where we want to be. Rather, the certification shows us that we are on the right track. We want to get even better.”
Headquartered in Koblenz, Canyon Bicycles GmbH currently employs around 1,000 people – a 20% year-on-year increase – across multiple departments including development and design, marketing and sales, production and logistics, consulting and service, customs and finance, IT, and more. Canyon increased its total worldwide turnover across all partners and subsidiaries last year by around 37% - from around 303 to just over 415 million euros. Canyon is considered a pioneer of the direct sales model in the bike industry, and currently operates 17 international partners in its key markets.
