Gold for Marlen Reusser and Zoe Bäckstedt on the Speedmax CFR TT and victory for Paula Ostiz on the Aeroad CFR
Monday 29th September 2025: After eight days of breathless bike racing, and eight days in which to determine the best of the best in 2025, three Canyon riders are flying home from Kigali freshly adorned with gold medals and rainbow jerseys.
With one of the toughest-ever world championship courses - including a series of energy sapping cobbled climbs - having the potential to affect the physical and psychological performance of the athletes, it was evident that this year's winners needed both the strongest legs, the strongest minds and the best equipment to prevail.
Movistar's Marlen Reusser opened the account for Canyon, storming to gold for Switzerland on her Speedmax CFR TT in the Elite ITT. CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto (CSRZ) riders Antonia Niedermaier (DE, 6th) and Chloe Dygert (USA, 9th) both put in strong rides to finish inside the top ten.
Reusser's win was followed by CSRZ's Zoe Bäckstedt winning gold for Britain in the ITT U23 race, almost two minutes ahead of her nearest competitor. Also riding well on Canyon, Fenix-Deceuninck's Millie Couzens (GB) finished 6th and CSRZ's Justyna Czapla (DE) finished 7th.
As the action switched from time trials to road races, the highly-talented junior Movistar rider Paula Ostiz (ES) notched up another win for Canyon as she executed a perfect sprint on her Aeroad CFR to surge clear of the final selection and claim the win in the Junior Women's Road Race.
Ostiz's feat couldn't quite be repeated in the women's elite road race. Antonia Niedermaier (DE) made a valiant attempt to catch the winning break but eventually finished 6th, while Marlen Reusser and CSRZ's Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney finished 9th and 10th respectively.
The Road World Championships may have finished but there are still more medals to come. Attention now switches to the Gravel World Championships and Kona Ironman where Canyon riders will have further opportunities to power their bikes to the top step of the podium, closing out the season in glorious fashion.
