Embargoed until 11:00 CET, Friday 28 March, 2025: Democratised Performance is the idea that e-MTB ride quality and capability need not be economically restricted to only the wealthiest enthusiasts. Plush, efficient suspension, broadly capable handling, smooth power assistance, ride-all-day range, and rugged dependability should be enjoyed by everyone.

The new Neuron:ON AL is built to honour this idea. It matches incredible versatility with exceptional value and outstanding durability in a ride that amplifies adventure and encourages exploration for all levels of rider.

Built for action

The Neuron:ON AL is built around an aluminium frame, ensuring durability and peace of mind. Available in four sizes ranging from S to XL, the sleek silhouette integrates the battery into its downtube and has been crafted to exceed the rigorous standards of Canyon's Category 3 mountain bike stress testing.

Talking of durability, sealed pivot bearings and hardened pivot hardware are designed to provide years of trouble-free performance, and the frame features extra protective armor beneath the downtube. Plus the Neuron:ON AL comes with a super durable Universal Derailleur Hangar (UDH).

Geometry and comfort

This latest iteration of Canyon's “go everywhere” trail e-MTB features a relaxed 64.5-degree head angle and a pedal-friendly effective 71-degree seat angle, along with the enhanced traction and climbing stability of 455mm chainstays (size M and above). To keep the off-road party going with greater comfort in all terrain, Canyon also increased the stack height for a more upright stance.

The same traits that make the Neuron:ON so capable off-road also translate to greater comfort across longer distances. Ample power assist and huge range capacity go hand in hand with more comfort. The more upright riding position makes it easier to look further ahead and reduces strain on the shoulders and necks of riders. See more trail, ride longer, and experience greater comfort over bigger distances.

With 85Nm of torque on hand and up to 600W of peak power available, the latest generation Bosch Line CX motor smoothly and quietly flattens mountains and dramatically shortens the distance between intention and adventure. Four customizable ride modes smoothly boost rider effort in a natural and intuitive manner.

Exploration is encouraged with a massive 600Wh or 800Wh of range nestled in the downtube and another 250Wh optionally available in the range extender that mounts in a bottle cage, bringing even the most potentially gruelling days in the saddle well within every rider’s comfort zone.

The Neuron:ON AL is built around an aluminium frame. It all starts here. While carbon fibre may grab the headlines, when it comes to putting in the hard miles in faraway places, building with aluminium is a good way to ensure durability and peace of mind. The sleek silhouette of the Neuron:ON AL frame integrates the battery into its downtube and has been crafted to exceed the rigorous standards of Category 3 testing. The sealed pivot bearings and hardened pivot hardware are designed to provide years of trouble-free performance, and the frame features extra protective armour beneath the downtube and a super durable UDH. That ‘democratised performance’ is a big part of our design philosophy. This may be an accessible e-MTB for a lot of riders, but we avoided cutting corners and skimping on the details. With this bike you have a quality build that’s really easy to own. Less maintenance, and a high quality, uber-reliable motor system makes for a hassle-free build for riders to focus on riding rather than wrenching. Neuron:ON AL product manager, Patrick Gross:

Components of adventure

Componentry is selected to match the broad capability of the Neuron:ON AL. 145mm of rear travel/150mm front travel is velvety smooth and supple on small hits but progressively ramps up to handle big impacts with confidence. 12-speed drivetrains from SRAM and Shimano provide accurate and purposeful shifting, while four piston brakes with 200/203mm rotors haul the bike down from speed with total composure regardless of terrain, and every Neuron:ON AL is equipped with a stout, reliable, 34.9mm diameter, long travel dropper post.

Pricing and availability

The Neuron:ON AL 7 is available at € 3,799 with the 600Wh battery option, upgradable to 800Wh. The Neuron:ON AL 8 is € 4,999 and the range tops out with the Neuron:ON AL 9, equipped with Rock Shox and SRAM AXS retails at € 5,499, both of which come with 800Wh as standard.
