EMBARGOED UNTIL THURSDAY 27 FEBRUARY 2025, 17:00h CET: For more than twenty years, Canyon’s promise has been to build the best bikes and enable unforgettable ride experiences. In 2025, Canyon is taking another step on that journey with MyCanyon, its first custom bike programme.
Starting with founder Roman Arnold’s obsession to create the perfect ride, Canyon comes full circle. In 2025 Canyon will offer customers dream bikes with the highest quality components, combined with unique designs.
For many years Canyon has delivered the finest materials with head-turning frames to World and Olympic Champions, Grand Tour, World Cup and Monument winners. Pro custom bikes have been a hallmark of Canyon’s history – colourful, dynamic and personal custom Canyons to draw the eye on the road to make athletes bikes look and feel as special as their performances – and now that luxury is available to Canyon customers with the launch of MyCanyon.
- Your Aeroad CFR, your way: The first model available to customise is the Aeroad CFR, an aero race bike that is seen as the pinnacle of Canyon’s road racing performance engineering, bringing MyCanyon in line with this level of ambition.
- Co-create a Canyon: Canyon has developed an easy-to-use online experience for MyCanyon, with step-by-step choices carefully curated from years of experience. Your dream vision. Canyon’s engineering expertise.
- Perfect fit and function: Configure the Aeroad CFR exactly the way you want, with the finest components and a tailored fit. Your cockpit. Your wheels. Your groupset. Your saddle.
- Awe-inspiring aesthetics: Choose from three spectacular new frame artwork collections that use the most complex and intricate painting techniques Canyon has ever achieved, including designs by two high-profile artists, Elena Salmistraro and Felipe Pantone.
- Hand-crafted, precise build: Each MyCanyon bike is hand-crafted in Canyon’s new build lab, painted up from a raw frame to a dream machine that’s put together with care by an expert road bike mechanic.
- The ride of a lifetime: All that’s left is to wait patiently for your MyCanyon to arrive. And when it does, you’ll have out-the-box custom perfection that’s ready to roll.
Rather than overwhelm customers with choice and difficult decisions on component combinations, Canyon has curated the MyCanyon custom journey step-by-step with a streamlined selection of luxury options.
- Aesthetics: Choose your frame from three spectacular new artwork collections, each featuring a variety of designs, and add a name sticker as a finishing touch.
- Fit: Fine-tune your comfort by selecting the saddle and stem length that match your riding position.
- Function: Bring your dream ride to life with custom groupset, wheel and tyre combinations, now available for the first time with Canyon.
Meet the new MyCanyon artworks — dazzling frame designs paired with intricate paint techniques for bikes that’ll turn heads on the road. There are three special new artwork collections to choose from when customising your bike: Fabrio, Mano, and Opus.
Blending special pigments and iridescent decals that change appearance as the bike reflects light, Canyon’s Fabrio designs appear to dance on the frame.
- Gold Dust: A stunning golden yellow finish couples with striking mirrored decals. It’s a bike that radiates energy and is as special as gold dust itself.
- Milky Way: Painted using ‘interference’ pigments, the frame looks like multiple colours at the same time. The result is a constantly shifting visual treasure that’s a joy to look at—and ride.
- Dark Matter: Representing the light and shade of the universe, this artwork combines a kaleidoscope of colours within a dark atmosphere. Iridescent decals shine as the bikes moves with you in the light.
The Mano collection frames are all hand-painted, making each one slightly different—and uniquely yours.
The first series in the collection for 2025 is named Astro and features four out-of-this-world artworks that capture the celestial aura of nebulae, the giant clouds of gas and dust that float between stars.
- Henize: Finished with matt paint, Henize has a darker, meteor-inspired energy and a stone-like effect up close. The decals are in matching matt, completing the aesthetic.
- Leo: Inspired by the Leo Nebula, this artwork uses a complicated drizzle paint technique that projects an always-unique array of patterns across the frame.
- Carina: Home to many massive stars, the Carina Nebula glows bright and bold. Painted using a hand-stamping process, this frame has a deep and fiery red colour that looks three-dimensional under the surface.
- Himiko: Himiko is an enormous galaxy that expands over 55,000 light years. By using special low viscosity paint specks combined with a complex layering process, this artwork gives an impression of endless depth.
The MyCanyon ‘Opus’ bikes are collabs with some of the most exciting artists in the world. Each frame is designed by the artist and requires a deeply complex paint job that is extremely hard to pull off. The results are stunning, offering you the rare chance to ride a real piece of art. In 2025, the Opus artist collabs are with Felipe Pantone and Elena Salmistraro.
Argentine/Spanish graffiti artist Felipe Pantone breaks new ground in the relationship between artist and consumer. Working across a broad array of canvases, buildings, and objects, often interactively, his fascination with the modern world and use of digital design techniques make his art feel constantly in motion. Inspired by motion and technology, Felipe Pantone’s MyCanyon Opus riffs on the ‘organised chaos’ of speed.
World-renowned Italian product designer and artist Elena Salmistraro has produced strikingly eclectic and imaginative work for the likes of Disney, Apple, Nike and Ikea. For Canyon she has conjured the magic of colour to create a joyful Aeroad CFR using a kaleidoscopic colour concept in her design.
Some of the first MyCanyon customers will be Alpecin-Deceuninck's Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen, plus CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto's Kasia Niewiadoma and Chloé Dygert who will ride MyCanyon bikes at selected races this spring.
For the first time, you can perfectly configure a Canyon road bike the way you want it, with the finest components and a tailored fit. The Aeroad CFR can now be configured by you with an array of options to choose from. Let’s dive into the detail.
- Groupset: Select between two of the finest road bike groupsets ever created. Shimano Dura-Ace and SRAM Red AXS both offer supreme shifting quality and lightness with each having their own approaches to shifting, aesthetics and ergonomics.
- Saddle: Your comfort, your choice: three Selle Italia saddle options to get it just right — all-out performance and lightness, maximum comfort, or a dependable, comfortable, ergonomic all-round saddle.
- Wheelset: Roll with the best, with top tier wheel choices from ZIPP 454 NSWs finished with the F1-inspired 28 mm Pirelli P-Zero RS tyres, or DT Swiss ARC 1100s with Contentinal’s AERO 111 GP5000 28 mm tyres.
- Stem: The Aeroad CFR features the award-winning PACE Bar design. From more upright and relaxed (short stems) that priories comfort to low and aero (long stems) for maximising speed, choose from a range of stem lengths to match your preferences and body dimensions.
Beyond the component options, all that remains is to choose your name sticker and your delivery option – from direct-to-consumer or to any Canyon service location to have your dream bike built and ready to ride.
Building your dream ride starts with shopping a Canyon Aeroad CFR as normal, toggling to custom mode and simply selecting your choices step-by-step, all in one place. Here are some of the highlights of the MyCanyon customer journey:
- Seamless & Intuitive UX: A step-by-step configurator engages users in a simple and joyful way, making customising very easy to do.
- 3D Visualisation: Best-in-class 3D renders allow users to view colours and components from various angles, helping to envision their dream build.
- Instant Pricing & Availability Updates: Transparent cost breakdowns and stock updates ensure no surprises at checkout.
- Continued Experience for Tracking: Enabling users to follow their bike’s build journey with live status updates in the Canyon App, while customers can also view their bike in situ through a clever new augmented reality feature.
As soon as customers have confirmed their order, the process begins of assembling the unique components that make up a MyCanyon bike. Within 6-12 weeks, bikes are delivered direct to customers, or can be ready to collect at one of over 500 Canyon service locations around the world where Canyon partners can provide helpful guidance and assistance.
MyCanyon is available immediately for customers in the US via the Aeroad CFR bikes on Canyon.com or the Canyon App. Please select the ‘custom’ option and follow the steps in the configurator to start the process of designing your dream MyCanyon bike.
MyCanyon will be available for customers in Asia-Pacific regions at the end of April and rest of the world locations, including Europe, by the end of summer 2025.
In the press kit we've prepared a selection of studio images and lifestyle/action images, some of which you'll find above. We've also prepared more detailed press explainer PDF document including all the features of MyCanyon in detail, along with additional interview content with Canyon founder Roman Arnold.
Back in 1978, the origins of MyCanyon were being pieced together in a small garage in the west of Germany.
A young bike racer and mechanic named Roman Arnold was building up dream bikes for his first customers. The components and frames were mostly Italian-made, imported in a big blue trailer on road trips abroad. The boy would skip school to join his father as they sought out the finest quality products to bring back with them.
He might never have imagined that more than forty years later this homespun custom bike initiative would go full circle for his company Canyon, but Roman had both the ambition and the work ethic, even then.
“From the garage we would sell 300 custom-made bikes a year,” he says. “I would build them up after school and work in the evenings.”
As the boy became a man, the garage became a shop. Radsport Arnold opened in the small city of Koblenz, which is where Canyon’s headquarters are still based today.
“We started the business out of passion. It was because I loved the sport and I rode bikes, so I knew what our customers wanted,” says Roman. It was custom frame building from day one.
During the initial launch period, Canyon expects orders to take between six and twelve weeks. During this time, the Canyon app will give customers updates about the status of their order.
Orders take longer than regular bike orders because each MyCanyon frame is hand-painted by a highly specialised team. Most of the frames need multiple layers of paint, which limits the number of frames that can be worked on each day. When the frame is ready, the bike is hand built by Canyon mechanics, before being shipped for a final quality control check. Canyon say that premium quality is their absolute minimum requirement and this takes time.
Canyon is rolling out a staggered launch for MyCanyon, with Asia Pacific regions set for launch in March/April and rest of the world regions (including Europe) launching in July/August.
For 2025, the Aeroad CFR is the only bike available to customise with MyCanyon. In the future Canyon plans to offer more bikes across different types of riding platforms.
As MyCanyon develops, Canyon say that they will be monitoring customer feedback closely to learn and adapt the programme, offering more customisation options in future when there is demand for it.
No. Rather than giving customers complete freedom, Canyon has taken a curated approach to artwork after carefully studying painting techniques to achieve some of the most spectacular frame designs it has ever produced. MyCanyon is launching with 13 different frame design options across three new collections (Fabrio, Mano and Opus). The level of intricacy required when painting ensures that every MyCanyon bike is both unique and truly stands out.
Every single MyCanyon frame is hand-painted, requiring a high level of skill and extra time to complete each frame. For this reason, Canyon’s artwork collections are priced at different levels. The Fabrio Collection is included as standard as part of the 500-dollar upgrade cost once you toggle to MyCanyon customisation when on the Aeroad CFR web page. Mano Collection and Opus Edition have further upcharges when selected.
Every bike is hand-painted, and given the complexities and technicalities of each process, each frame finish will be ever so slightly different and therefore one-of-a-kind (not to mention the multiple configurable part options you can choose). And, as a final touch, customers can add a name sticker to the frame to make the bike truly theirs.
Felipe Pantone and Elena Salmistraro are two of the most exciting artists working today, both with very distinctive styles. Canyon felt that they would deliver two very different but equally exciting MyCanyon collaborations. In future Canyon plans to collaborate with other exciting artists for new Opus frame designs.
