CANYON LAUNCHES NEW LIGHTWEIGHT E-MTB—THE SPECTRAL:ONFLY

Embargoed until Thursday 12th September 2024: Today, Canyon proudly introduces its new Spectral:ONfly—a lightweight e-MTB that delivers remarkably playful and capable handling for aggressive trail riding.

Four models, ranging in price from € 5,599 to € 8,999 are now available in all markets outside of the United States. U.S. consumers will have their choice of two models (the CF8 and CF CLLCTV), beginning the first week of October.

Canyon designed the Spectral:ONfly with one goal in mind: Create a bike that blends the poppy, nimble, and confident handling of the best trail bikes with the extra boost and speed of an e-bike. The result is a 150mm travel all-rounder that sports a 2.65kg (5.8lb) carbon-fiber e-MTB chassis capable of enduro-level riding. With complete e-MTB bikes weighing as little as 18.1kg (40lb), the Spectral:ONfly is  lightweight, yes, but it’s no flimsy pushover.

In true Canyon style, the Spectral:ONfly is loaded with innovative features that take performance and reliability up a notch. The integrated Keep It Stable (K.I.S.) steering stabiliser elevates rider control and confidence in loose, choppy terrain. Canyon’s durable double-sealed pivot points and trail tough frame protection keep the bike running smooth and silently ride after ride.

Each model is ready to rip right out of the box with bang-on specs and no pricey modifications required.  Highlights include big hitting forks with 36 or 38mm stanchions, powerful disc brakes with 200mm rotors (front and rear), light-yet-strong wheelsets, long-travel (up to 230mm) dropper posts, and more.

But the real stand-out feature of this bike is the near-hidden motor. The Spectral:ONfly doubles your pedalling power (at peak assist) with the smooth, silent performance of TQ’s HPR50 drive system. Building a lean, sophisticated e-MTB called for an equally lean and innovative motor and power supply. TQ’s tiny-yet-mighty motor and 360Wh battery proved the perfect choice.

Riders seeking to boost the bike’s already impressive range can quickly and easily mount TQ’s 160Wh range extender battery—increasing their kilometers-per-charge by up to 44%. Coming with three support modes, plus a walk-assist function, riders can call on 50Nm of torque to winch up climbs, proving plenty of juice for support, but not so much that you’re barely needing to push.
