CANYON LAUNCHES NEW CFR HELMETS WITH INNOVATIVE HIGHBAR CLOSURE SYSTEM FOR ENHANCED COMFORT, AERODYNAMICS AND FIT

Of course with that comes a responsibility for safety and protecting riders. That's why Canyon is expanding its cycling innovation and expertise into head protection with the launch of two new CFR helmets designed for high performance road racing, cross-country and marathon racing or gravel racing.   

CFR, or Canyon Factory Racing, is the pinnacle of the company’s research and development expertise, distilled into world-beating products. Using the finest materials, the highest quality production, and input from industry experts and professional riders, Canyon’s CFR helmet line is designed with the highest performance in mind. 

Canyon’s two new CFR Road/Gravel and Aero Road helmets - Disruptr and Stingr - incorporate an innovative fit system from HighBar that not only improves the rider experience, but dramatically boosts aerodynamic efficiency too. Wind tunnel tests on the HighBar strap vs a conventional strap show a 7-watt saving at 50 kph and an even greater 10-20 watt saving at speeds of 60-70kph. 

In short, Canyon’s CFR helmets set a new standard in speed, performance and protection with game-changing helmet technology for your fastest rides and races. Here’s how: 

1. The future of high-performance helmets

Working with leading technical partners like HighBar and Mips®, Canyon developed an innovative new fit system that will keep you cool and offer perfect fitting protection. And with two wind-tunnel tested shapes to help eliminate drag, you’ll save valuable watts when it counts.

2. HighBar - faster, cooler, quieter and fitter

The all-new HighBar system takes helmet performance and protection to a whole new level. Launching on Canyon helmets for the first time, the HighBar ensures perfect positioning every time - gone are misaligned Y-shape straps - with a ratchet dial to offer easy, one-handed adjustment and a perfectly customised fit every ride.

As well as the fit, Highbar’s innovative arms provide valuable gains in aerodynamics and temperature regulation (up to 4.8 degrees cooler than traditional webbing straps). Plus wind tunnel tests have shown the HighBar System can also reduce sound levels at the ears significantly (6-7.5dB) compared to conventional helmet straps. With less wind noise, you can concentrate on those fast descents and sprints or clearly hear instructions from your Directeur Sportif – totally free from distracting strap flutter.

3. Aerodynamics - podium or no podium

Canyon worked with the industry’s most trusted experts in aerodynamics to produce two helmets that offer a true air-slicing advantage.

The Stingr CFR’s aero-optimised shape, combined with the aero gains of the strapless HighBar retention system, has been tested to save an incredible 10-20 watts at 60-70kph, or 33 seconds over 100km. It’s an athlete-proven helmet that won't just save you valuable watts for when it matters most, but will keep you cool and comfortable on race day too.

The Disruptr CFR has also been optimised for aerodynamics, but features a greater focus on ventilation for all-day riding.  

4. Thermodynamics - staying cool under pressure

Temperature regulation is one of the most important elements in any cycling performance. In addition to the cooling effect of the HighBar strap, thanks to both wind tunnel trials and computational fluid dynamics testing, Canyon created two vent designs that are significantly cooler than competitors' helmets – helping you stay focused under pressure.

Who's proving those credentials? The Disruptr CFR rewrites the rules for pro-level helmet performance – keeping you cool and comfortable when you’re riding at your limit. The Disruptr also comes with a magnetic port in the rear to take a Canyon rear light with 5 modes and up to 30 hours run time. Helmets available in white, black, and grey, weighing 275 g (M size/CE standard).  

Designed to slice through the air without compromising on cooling, the Stingr CFR is a race-ready aero helmet built for top steps and personal bests. Available in white and black, and weighing 275 g (M size/CE standard).

On the exterior of both you’ll find classy and understated branding with simply a small CFR logo on the rear.

Both helmets feature interior Mips Air Node crash protection and are available in Small, Medium, and Large,
exclusively from Canyon.com or via the Canyon app, where you can also find service instructions.
