CANYON RELEASES THE NEURON:ONFLY, AN E-MTB THAT PUTS YOU IN THE DRIVING SEAT

On April 25th, Canyon Bicycles will launch an all-new e-MTB line—the Neuron:ONfly.

Easily Canyon’s most versatile e-MTB to date, the Neuron:ONfly pairs a cutting-edge carbon chassis with Bosch’s recently launched Performance Line SX drive system for 55Nm of torque and 600W of power. The result is a bike that delivers the best of both compact, light-assist e-MTBs and brawnier, high-torque e-MTBs. Less weight. More power.

Canyon’s first dedicated, lightweight e-MTB maximises your time on the bike by making the most effective use of the effort you put in. This is a high-performance e-bike with an active ride feeling, for the rider who prefers being the pilot, not a passenger. It’s for the rider who wants a svelte and nimble plaything where their output is amplified rather than manufactured on a big, burly beast of a bike.

Four models in Neuron:ONfly line up are available, ranging in price from €4,849 to €7,999, delivering an unrivalled combination of performance and value. In the US the Neuron:ONfly is only available in the CF 7 model, which retails for $5,499.

Compact power unleashed

The saying ‘you get out what you put in’ has never been truer than with the Neuron:ONfly. The compact Bosch SX motor works with your effort and cadence to output up to a massive 600 watts of peak power. But it’s no armchair ride, peak power comes with pedalling speed. Ride with a higher RPM and the Neuron:ONfly gives more power back, rewarding your efforts. Put more power through the pedal, more goes to the trails.

Tailwind Technology is the name Canyon has given to their e-bikes with compact motors, which puts Neuron:ONfly riders fully in control with an active ride feel. This new approach to e-bikes not only delivers on the energy-enhancing freedom to explore that you’ll be used to from e-MTBs, but also brings a more agile, responsive bike, freed from the weight of burlier e-bikes.

The Neuron:ONfly sits in the middle of the Neuron family with the full power Neuron:ON as the go to choice for all day adventures in the alpine, while the Neuron is a 100% human powered bike for those who want to keep it traditional.

Powerfully quiet Bosch SX motor

At the heart of this bike is the near silent Bosch SX motor that has the same amount of peak power as its bigger brother, the Bosch CX, at 600W. The difference is in the torque, with the SX having 55Nm of torque, meaning riders need to put in more of their own effort to reach the peak power possibilities of their Neuron:ONfly.

One of the most important characteristics of this motor is that the modulation does not increase by leaps and bounds, but progressively instead. On gravel roads, the support feels comfortable, like you’re riding with a tailwind. When you turn onto the trail and sprint towards the summit, the engine ramps up its power and reacts sensitively and directly to your input.

Thanks to state-of-the-art sensor technology, the system detects every pedal stroke and adjusts its output. Never before has an e-bike felt so natural.

With the Bosch SX motor, riders can reach a max speed of 25km/h (or 20mph / 32km/h under US regulations) and, depending on the rider and conditions, climb 1,000m of elevation in Turbo mode. These lighter and more compact drive units also come with smaller, slimmer 400Wh batteries that seamlessly integrate into the frames, saving 2-3kg compared to the Neuron:ON.

Refined and ready to ride

The Neuron:ONfly ushers in a new era of sleek e-MTBs with a tidy silhouette and sporty style thanks to its trimmed down carbon fibre frame that remains steady and stiff on technical descents. The bike’s combination of 29” wheels and 140mm of front and rear travel helps it breeze through the rough stuff while being a consistent and efficient performer on the climbs.

The 64.5° head tube angle lets riders stay in control at high speeds through the forest and the long reach (460mm in size M) means there’s plenty of room for movement. When the trail points uphill, riders are seated in a neutral position thanks to the 76.5° seat angle for comfortable climbing.

Canyon’s proven Triple Phase Suspension has been refined for the Neuron:ONfly to improve the anti-squat which makes the bike more efficient to pedal. Add in a wide range of sizes from XS to XL, for riders from 5’2” to 6’5”, and sporty e-bike rides have never looked so good.

Discreetly powered for extended rides

The Neuron:ONfly comes with a 400Wh PowerTube battery installed into the downtube. But if more juice is needed, Bosch’s PowerMore discreetly adds 250Wh more in a practical package that clips onto the downtube and looks like a water bottle. No detail has been overlooked on this bike. Even the charging socket has been engineered to smoothly open with a push of a button and it also gives the electronics added protection from wind and rain.

Every detail matters

The finishing touches make the Neuron:ONfly one of the most versatile e-bikes Canyon has ever produced. There’s clever protection touches throughout the frame, such as the Impact Protection Unit in the headtube, bumper on the downtube to protect your frame in the event of a crash. Plus, there’s a full-length chainstay cover and integrated chain guide to protect against chain impacts and keep your chain secure. Then there’s the internal cabling, which is routed through PU hoses, held firmly in place inside the frame to keep your bike free from rattles.

Ride like a Bosch with ConnectModule and eBike Flow App

The Neuron:ONfly uses the Bosch ConnectModule and Canyon’s eBike Flow app to deliver a fully connected experience. With the Bosch app riders can configure the motor exactly how they want, download updates, and fine tune their preferences to complement their ridestyle.

The apps also add an extra layer of security with a digital lock. If you switch off your Neuron:ONfly, the alarm is automatically activated. At the slightest movement, it produces a warning sound to deter potential thieves. If your Neuron:ONfly moves significantly, the system notifies you immediately on your smartphone. The tracking feature is automatically enabled which allows you to follow the position of your bike live via the eBike Flow app.
