As one of the most dominant forces in world cross-country racing in 2023, Canyon’s Loana Lecomte (FR), Sam Gaze (NZ), Puck Pieterse (NL), and Luca Schwarzbauer (DE) took home nine XCO and XCC World Cup race wins, three overall World Cup titles, and a World Championship win between them. Now, as Canyon looks ahead to another huge season between the tape, their factory XC team is joined by a host of top Alpecin-Deceuninck World Tour riders, including multi-discipline phenomenon Mathieu van der Poel (NL), all gunning for success with a pure-bred racing machine, the Lux World Cup CFR.
Led by serial World Cup winners Luca Schwarzbauer and Loana Lecomte, the Canyon CLLCTV team will also be home to Line Burquier (FR), Thomas Griot (FR), Adair Prieto (MX) and Thibaut Francois (ES) for the coming season. You’ll find them on the 2024 XCO and XCC World Cup circuit along with Alpecin-Deceuninck riders including multi-time World Champion Sam Gaze (NZ), 2023 XCO and XCC World Cup Champion Puck Pieterse (NL), Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (NL), and talented youngsters Ronja Eibl (DE) and Jente Michels (BE).
Away from the World Cup circuit, Mathieu van der Poel is singularly focussed on the biggest prize in the sport: securing Gold at the Paris games this summer. And with MVDP in the form of his life after winning his maiden Road World Championship and fifth Cyclocross World Championship titles in 2023 and most recently producing a series of brilliant wins at the 23/24 Cyclocross World Cup, you’d be brave to bet against the Dutchman when he lines up at the big one this July.
The Canyon-Sidi (formerly Canyon-Northwave) team focuses on longer-distance Cross-Country Marathon racing and counts former Marathon World Champion Andreas Seewald (DE) and Martin Stosek (CZ), Marc Stutzmann (SUI) and Stefanie Walter (DE) among its members.
With a strong lineup including three of the top 10 finishers at the 2023 Absa Cape Epic, watch out for this seasoned outfit mixing it up at the sharp end of the field in 2024.
Beyond the tape Canyon also believe in the inspirational power of sports stars to bring newcomers into cycling. They have a partnership Grand Prix motorcycle racer Maverick Vinales (ES), plus snowboarder Ryan Wachendorfer (US) who both use Canyon cross-country and trail bikes to supplement their training.
Few global cycling companies have such a pedigree in today’s pro sports world as Canyon – and the results speak for themselves. Canyon’s Global Director of Pro Sports Andreas Walzer said: “the power of sport to inspire is phenomenal. Performance is deep within the DNA of the company and is integral to the way we design and test our bikes. With 13 world champions riding for Canyon in 2024, we want to continue to work with the best and most inspiring athletes in the world for two reasons – their quest for excellence inspires us to find every innovation possible in the pursuit of victory, and their performances provide inspiration for fans of cycling all around the world.”
As well as Cross Country and Marathon racing, Canyon also sponsors riders in Road, Triathlon, Gravel, Adventure, Enduro, DH, and Freeride.
