EMBARGOED UNTIL TUESDAY 7 MARCH 2023 (11:00 AM CET/10:00 AM UTC) – Right on time for the new season, Canyon are serving up fresh e-Hybrid bike technology upgrades to meet high demand.
In the last three years, it’s become clearer that cycling is a predominant means to move around. Many have realised that two wheeled travel is convenient as well as physically and emotionally healthy. The bicycle is more popular than ever – and these bikes are Canyon’s response to the call.
It’s a lifestyle choice more than anything: total travel autonomy for anyone wanting to widen their scope for adventure. City slickers zipping to a music class with their guitar on their back, or catching the sunrise on their morning commute. Or inquisitive explorers packing the panniers with baguettes and olives, clipping the trailer to the coupling, and bringing the kids with them. Canyon e-Hybrid bikes are the catalysts for this revolutionary shift.
Under the umbrella of Urban e-Hybrid bikes at Canyon are three categories: City, Commuter, and Touring. Within those categories are four flagship bikes that play their own purpose per category and ride style – whatever your age, whatever your schedule, whatever your riding style.
First up, the Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD is a true eye-catcher. Sleek and sculpted, it gracefully straddles both City and Touring categories thanks to its road bike speed and agile handling. It features SRAM’s Eagle AXS 12-speed wireless electronic gearing: smooth, precise, and originally developed for world class race bikes. The front light is dazzlingly bright, and the revolutionary speed-responsive taillight increases in brightness when you squeeze on the brakes. And? Both lights are integrated into the frame.
The Commuter:ON 7 lands, of course, in the Commuter category. It’s a true sidekick, equipped with everything to café-hop, blitz down the canals, or glide past traffic with total ease. Integrated mudguards and lights and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes support a safe arrival free from pesky mud spatters. And while the Commuter:ON 7 boasts an impressive list of city-ready features, it’s deceptively lightweight at just 17 kg.
Canyon are one of the first bike brands to pioneer the all-new FAZUA Ride 60 drive system in both the Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD and the Commuter:ON 7. The 430 Wh battery and 3 pre-set riding modes pack a punch while feeling natural. The motor seamlessly integrates with any riding style, so whether riders are itching for a cruising or a bruising, they’ve always got freedom to choose. Riders can also download the FAZUA Remote fX app to monitor battery level, track fitness goals, or even control the lights through their custom profile. View it all while you ride by mounting your smartphone to the super-secure SP Connect smartphone mount in the cockpit. Just make sure you buy your smartphone-specific casing.
Back to the high-tech bikes. The Pathlite:ON 9 LTD SUV is born out of a love for adventure: the ultimate bike in Canyon’s Touring category. It’s kitted out to the nines, and Bosch-equipped for all means of exploration. The 750 Wh battery capacity has plenty of juice on tap for consistent, reliable power across all kinds of terrain. And on the subject of mixed terrain, the ingenious Bosch ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) prevents front wheel skidding and rear wheel lifting if you suddenly need to slam on the brakes.
The Precede:ON AL is the well-endowed, feature rich City e-bike built for durability and cargo. Maximalist hedonism in a non-bulky package releases you from the weight of everyday planning, and offers sovereignty to do anything and go anywhere in the city. The low-maintenance, long lasting Gates belt drive and Enviolo hub shifting both take regular chain replacements and smudges on tights or trousers out the equation. And the powerful Bosch motor and big-time battery capacity make pedalling up hills with a heavy-loaded rear rack a breeze.
So both the Pathlite:ON 9 LTD SUV and Precede:ON AL are Bosch-equipped. And with this comes clever anti-theft tech as a nice extra for that ‘just-in-case' feeling. Just connect the bike with the eBike Flow app, and then enable the eBike Lock. Your smartphone acts as the digital key to the bike: recognition takes place automatically via Bluetooth, so your phone can stay in your pocket. You’ll know when it’s worked thanks to short jingly tones and lights. And if your bike of choice is the Pathlite:ON 9 LTD SUV, you can get GPS tracking on the Bosch Kiox 300 display once you link it with the bike.
So whether riders are looking for a steed for everyday life, fitness, or for long luxurious tours outdoors, Canyon’s upgraded Urban e-Hybrid range ticks every box. All of these and more are currently available at canyon.com.
