EMBARGO UNTIL 29 SEPTEMBER 2022, 11:00 (CEST) — Winter is coming, and cyclocross season is fast approaching. And with it, one of the most dominant ‘cross bikes of the modern era is returning to the start line. The Canyon Inflite has been ridden to multiple World Championship titles under the likes of Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, Puck Pieterse and Mathieu van der Poel, with a spate of World Cup wins to back it up. And now, the serial podium contender for any ‘cross course is back and ready for more.
Currently comprising four models across two carbon frame platforms, all bikes in the ‘23 range are based on the existing Inflite frame, proven over years of amateur and professional racing. All the same class-leading performance innovations are there. ‘That’ top tube kink for effortless shouldering. A cross-optimised geometry for stability and agility in equal measure. And for less mud build-up, a reduced frame surface area and extra tyre clearance. And now for the 2023 season, the Inflite is back between the tape and ready to race with refreshed components and power meters by Quarq and 4iiii on more models than ever before.
The flagship Inflite CF SLX platform is designed to win Cyclocross World Championships – achieving a combination of world-class lightness, stiffness, and strength thanks to a frame constructed with an advanced mix of high tensile, high modulus, and intermediate modulus carbon fibres. The Inflite CF SLX 9 currently headlines the range, built around a one-by SRAM Force eTap AXS groupset with 10-36t cassette, complete with a Quarq power meter for more effective training and more precise control over racing efforts.
Based around the same frame design, the three-bike Inflite CF SL range takes the class-leading innovation of the CF SLX and makes it available in a more accessible carbon package. All but the entry-level Inflite CF SL 6 come fitted with power meters, making this key technology available to a wider pool of racers than ever. The Inflite CF SL 8 is made for serious racing on an aspiring amateur’s budget, coming equipped with a wireless SRAM Rival eTap AXS groupset, and one-piece carbon H31 Ergocockpit. The Inflite CF SL 6 makes brings incredible performance to the entry-level sector with a one-by Shimano GRX 600 drivetrain, Shimano GRX hydraulic disc brakes, and robust, tubeless-ready alloy DT Swiss Cross LN wheels.
The Inflite CF SLX 9 and CF SL 8 come equipped with the latest generation DT Swiss CRC carbon wheels, currently exclusive to Canyon. With a 22 mm internal rim width specifically selected to pair with 33 mm ‘cross tyres and 45 mm rim depth to help carve through sand and mud while also offering aero gains, the CRC 1400 and CRC 1600 wheelsets are optimised for the ‘cross course. DT Swiss’ reputation for bombproof reliability comes as standard, helped along by the brand’s 240 and 350 Ratchet System hub internals on the CRC 1400 and CRC 1600 respectively.
