KOBLENZ, JUNE 7, 2022 | EMBARGO UNTIL JUNE 8, 2022, 11 AM (CEST) — It’s science: If you look fast, you ride fast. That’s why Canyon teamed up with Troy Lee Designs to create a limited-edition Sender CFR and matching kit for the CLLCTV Factory Downhill Team. The special Sender colourway first debuted at this year’s Lourdes World Cup and turned heads on its way to a fifth-place finish courtesy of Luca Shaw. While another stellar result for Luca slid away at Fort William, the positive momentum is well and truly intact. Now Canyon is making this drool worthy Sender CFR TLD available to DH riders everywhere.
The iconic graphics of Troy Lee Designs are ubiquitous on the downhill circuit. The American brand has a long history of kitting out the world’s best and while Canyon’s roots in the discipline aren’t as old, both companies share a desire to help the fastest riders go even faster. The collaboration was a no brainer. Taking the Sender CFR, one of the quickest bikes on the scene, and making it look as rapid as it rides was no small feat but Canyon and TLD have pulled it off. Yes, racing stripes were involved. The matching kit is part of Troy Lee Design’s Marker line and was developed to meet the versatile needs of pro DH racers.
‘As a team within Canyon we have been long-time fans of Troy Lee Designs, and this connection has grown stronger through recent years with the development and support of our DH and Enduro programs. We couldn’t be more stoked to be able to pull together a collaboration like this with such an icon of the sport. The final artwork blew away all expectations, and we can’t wait to start seeing these things out in the wild.’ Jack Noy, Brand Manager | Gravity MTB at Canyon Bicycles.
‘We have been partnered with the Canyon Factory DH team for 5 seasons now and from the first time Troy Brosnan introduced us to the Canyon race bikes, I really wanted to throw some custom paint on one of these bikes. The lines on the frames work really well for doing paint work and I was so excited to finally get this one together and tie it back to the race kits. I always try to make things look fast standing still and this whole package looks fast in the pits or sprinting across the finish line. Can’t wait for the next one!’ Troy Lee, Founder.
Aside from the new look, the Sender CFR keeps the same race-proven chassis behind multiple world cup wins in the 2022 season. A lower centre of gravity and a lengthened wheelbase provide additional stability at speed, while adjustable headset cups and chainstays allow the bike to be dialled in to the hyper specific needs of different racers. The carbon frame has been optimised to decrease overall weight while maintaining the same bombproof durability the range is known for. The Sender CFR is available in both full 29er and mullet setups to cover racers after all-out speed or a little added manoeuvrability.
The Sender CFR TLD is the flagship of Canyon’s downhill range and comes out of the box ready to race at the highest level. The bike is equipped with a CLLCTV Factory DH Team-inspired spec featuring a SRAM X01 groupset, CODE RSC brakes and the dynamic duo of the Rockshox Boxxer Ultimate fork and Super Deluxe coil rear shock. A limited number of the Sender CFR TLD will be available exclusively on canyon.com starting June 8, 2022.
